CUSTOMER OF THE WEEK - PRIYA

Priya says that the blouses I make for her are admired by her friends in US where she stays.  She always comes back to me with more compliments and more blouses to be made for her, each time she visits India. She has come down for her second delivery and she is enjoying her motherhood now. Her entire family gets their clothes made with me. Hence, it is a tough competition to make new ones and not repeat the ones already made in the family. Nevertheless it is fun being innovative.

I would like to thank you for your kind patronage by gifting you with a digital software from the sponsoring site http://www.mymemories.com/ You can make your own album or a photo book or create a calendar. She is seen wearing a green blue combination silk sari. It is a double color combination, so I have brought the same effect on her blouse too by making the centre in blue and the sides in green. The pattern has been highlighted by using an embellishment which is a stones border. The edge of the centre of the blouse is cut into a v shape to give the effect of a corset being worn on sari.

Customer Of The Week

Ruvanthika is dressed up as a Cindrella in a new avtaar. She has participated in a fancy dress competition and has won many good reviews for her dress. She is indeed looking gorgeous. Her mother, Nalini Karnna has sent me her pictures and informed me about the response she got in her school. It is nice to get the feedback from clients as we thrive on such information and of course the word of mouth does wonders to my business. Thanks to you for reverting and sending me her pictures. I would like to reciprocate your kind gesture by gifting you with a coupon from the sponsoring site http://www.mymemories.com/ The coupon code will be sent to your email id and you can download the digital scrapbook software for FREE. Hope you have lots of fun making use of it.

Her dress is made out of green netted fabric. It was a regular salwar dress material which is in the form of a set which means it includes the top material, salwar material and the dupatta. I have made use of all these fabrics together to give her an indo western look. The top jacket was made plain and embellished with silver star sequins. The dupatta is converted into a puffed up skirt with two layers to give the effect of a ball gown. The laced material which is supposed to be the kurtha material has been used to make an overcoat that has been enhanced with a stone border on its edges. The bottom salwar material that is plain has been used as a lining for the whole costume.

CUSTOMER OF THE WEEK

Jeweria whom I call as Juhi is a tall and pretty girl. She is so tall that each time I take the tape to take the measurements for her shoulder, I am left wishing that it was me in her place. Nevertheless, I am happy for her. She brings her clothes for tailoring and I enjoy giving her that trim and proper fit as it suits her petite body frame. In the first picture you can see her wearing a black bandhej dress in silk with chiffon sleeves that has been embroidered in threadwork. The second picture she is seen wearing another bandhej dress in silk which is wine and beige color in combination. She has a gorgeous smile, don't you think so?!

Bandhej is an art that is part of India's culture and heritage. It is the highest form of textile expression in dyeing and is also known as bandhini meaning to tie. When the threads are removed and the cloth stretched out, the areas which had been covered with thread will appear as different colored circles, square or diamond shaped patterns. Silk fabric with fine bandhini work is often worn as bridal attire by certain communities. The ciites which are famous for this kind of dyeing are Jamnagar, Bhuj, Jaipur, Udaipur, Ajmer and are situated in Gujarat.

La Princesse would like to gift you with a special digital software that can assist you in making your own calender, album or a photo book and many other things. To claim this, you can visit the sponsoring site http://www.mymemories.com/ and use the code sent to your email id. to download the software for free. Shailaja's Query Answered

Delicate fabrics with stains need to be rushed to dry cleaners. For the ball pen mark on your outfit, you can soak the spot with eau-de-cologne. Rub it with a coarse dry cloth. Wash as normal. Soermetimes clothes worn over a longer period of time will smell of perspiration even after you have washed them. Soak such clothes in salt water solution for an hour or sponge the spots with a solution of half a cup white vinegar to one cup of water before washing. If the stains become old, they will become stubborn and it is difficult to remove them. The solution to this is to get the outfit dyed and renewed into a new shade preferrably the color of the stain.

Dr.Archana used to come and get clothes done with me when she was studying in school. Then we lost touch and it was an indeed pleasant surprise when she suddenly dropped into my store with her mother, Mrs.Vasanthi. It was a great pleasure especially when I see my old clients remember me and come back to me. She has settled in UK and visited me to get her wedding trousseau ready. I made some lovely saris and ethnic blouses with halter neck in gold, silver and black that can go with most of her saris.

The dress she is wearing in the first picture is a rare combination of wine and aqua color made in Kora Silk fabric. The dupatta is heavily embroidered and the edges are with a crochet border dyed in the similar shade of the dupatta which is in a georgette fabric. In the second picture, she is wearing a complete black silk set which is set off with ethnic embroidery in bright colors. The dupatta has been given in a contrast shade with a shimmer brocade edge to it.

As a thanksgiving, we have a gift coupon using which you can download a very interesting digital scrapbooking software. To claim your gift coupon kindly visit http://www.mymemories.com/ and use the promocode enclosed herein: STMMMS14201

Tips on Preserving Expensive Clothes

Wrap the clothes in white cotton or muslin before storing. This will help in preserving the color and the sheen on the dress.
If you do not plan to wear these clothes for a few months, do not iron it before storing. It is better to iron it just before wearing it.
It is a good idea to air the clothes, away from direct sunlight, twice a year.
Never use napthalene balls along with heavy clothes with zari work on it, as they will get tarnished.
Avoid spraying perfume directly on the zari embroidery of such clothes.
If clothes have perspiration smell, dry clean them before storing them away and remember to give them only to a trusted launderer.
If the clothes have got stained while usage, never pack them inside before getting rid of them. They may turn out to be a stubborn stain.
Fabrics should not be over exposed to sunlight.
