Fashion Tabu is Back!

Sometimes we don't really leave behind the things we love. We simply take a little pause before finding our way back to them.

And so, after a long break, Fashion Tabu is back!

Fashion has been a part of my life for decades — as a stylist, designer, entrepreneur, writer and, most importantly, as someone who has always enjoyed helping women discover what truly works for them.

When I first began writing Fashion Tabu, my purpose was simple: to share practical fashion and styling ideas drawn from real experience rather than simply following trends.

That philosophy hasn't changed.

What has changed is the world of fashion around us.

Today we have endless inspiration at our fingertips, yet getting dressed can sometimes feel more confusing than ever. What colours work together? How much jewellery is too much? How can we restyle something already in our wardrobe? How do we look contemporary without losing our individuality?

These are exactly the conversations I would like to bring back to Fashion Tabu.

I will be sharing thoughts on personal styling, colour combinations, accessorising, bridal fashion, dupatta draping, reinventing clothes you already own, and some of the lessons I have gathered through my many years in fashion.

There will also be stories from my own journey — because fashion, for me, has never been only about clothes.

It is about confidence, individuality and knowing how to make style your own.

So, to those who read Fashion Tabu in the past — welcome back.

And to those discovering it for the first time — welcome to my little world of fashion.

We have a lot to talk about.

Fashion Tabu is back — and this is only the beginning.

With love,

Tabassum Rahamathullah

Tips on Preserving Expensive Clothes

Wrap the clothes in white cotton or muslin before storing. This will help in preserving the color and the sheen on the dress.
If you do not plan to wear these clothes for a few months, do not iron it before storing. It is better to iron it just before wearing it.
It is a good idea to air the clothes, away from direct sunlight, twice a year.
Never use napthalene balls along with heavy clothes with zari work on it, as they will get tarnished.
Avoid spraying perfume directly on the zari embroidery of such clothes.
If clothes have perspiration smell, dry clean them before storing them away and remember to give them only to a trusted launderer.
If the clothes have got stained while usage, never pack them inside before getting rid of them. They may turn out to be a stubborn stain.
Fabrics should not be over exposed to sunlight.
